BLOG -- Recap of January

So January was a quiet but busy month. At least my emotions were more stable. And I've been successful so far with my Final Fantasy XIV-related New Year's Resolution! Tomorrow will be my 1st year anniversary of playing Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Hmm... how to celebrate... lol

Outings/Events in January:
- Stayed over at my sister's place.

- Hung out with friends x1.

- Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn achievements / news: I got married on my original server. Annnd... it's gonna happen again in the next month (with another character)!

Exposures:
- (Mobile app) Kim Kardashian Hollywood -- Soo... in case you start judging me on this -- I got the game to help a friend who is currently playing it. It is a little addictive, 'cuz I tend to be a sucker for dress-up games. One thing to note though: this uses a lot of data everyday, even when you're not playing so make sure your phone's connected to Wi-Fi or has unlimited / a lot of data to work with.

- (PS4) Minecraft -- I played this a couple of times with a couple friends. It still feels overwhelming, but I do want to spend some time and get sucked into it. Just... not... right... now... lol

Finished...
Watching:
- (Movie): Under the Skin -- This was weird. It was well-acted and well-everything. But soo... weird, lol. I was very intrigued when watching it, but I'm not sure if I would watch it again.

- (Movie): Magic Mike -- It was fun. I enjoyed the dancing, lol.

- (Anime): Waiting in the Summer -- I liked this. The drama was very quiet and almost non-existent at times, but the emotions were so strong and honest. I could really empathise with many of the characters.

Playing:
- (3DS): Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale -- This was a fun, calming experience. The story was pretty cute. I'd recommend it just for the experience.

- (3DS): Theatrhythm: Curtain Call -- I reached the ending credits so I consider this beaten. I know I'll still be playing it from time to time, though. I still have to unlock and play "To Zanarkand". I love that track so much.

Reading:

have not watched any of these movies.

Have a good rest of the weekend and thanks for reading! :)

BLOG -- My Movie-Watching History (in Theatres) [2014]

Here is my movie-watching (in theatres) history for 2014. I was a little disappointed that my first movie of 2014 was so late in the year. But I gotta say -- it was a great movie to kick things off. As I've said in previous Movie-watching blogs, I love movies and enjoy watching them. If I could afford it (money-wise AND time-wise), I'd be in the theatres almost every week (if there were good, interesting movies playing).

Even though I've covered these throughout the year in my end-of-month blogs, here are all the movies I've watched in theatres for 2014, with additional commentary for most, if not for all.

SPOILER ALERT WARNING!!
Since I will be mentioning a good number of movies in this blog, some of them will contain spoilers. Any movie that will contain a spoiler will be marked.

2014

MOVIE: Captain America: The Winter Soldier [SPOILER]
DATE: April 19, 2014
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****

COMMENTS: I loved the relationship between Captain America and Black Widow. As much as I had the small desire that they would yearn for each other romantically, I felt much more warm and fuzzy that they expressed a non-romantic intimacy. That sense of deep understanding between friends – it’s really, really beautiful.

MOVIE: How to Train Your Dragon 2
DATE: June 17, 2014
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****

COMMENTS: It was really good. Had a couple issues with some scenes, and one major plot development close to the end, but overall it was enjoyable. The music was really, really good. I want to have my own dragon now!

MOVIE: X-Men: Days of Future Past
DATE: June 20, 2014
RATING (OUT OF 5): *****

COMMENTS: Finally – a time travel story without a loophole! This was really good.

*********************************************************************

MOVIE: 22 Jump Street
DATE: August 1st, 2014
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****

COMMENTS: This was really funny. I especially liked the credits at the end. Poor Dave Franco, though.

*********************************************************************

MOVIE: Lucy
DATE: August 12, 2014
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****

COMMENTS: I very much enjoyed the ideas presented in this movie. It made me think that maybe my current struggles aren’t that big or significant at all. I would love to be able to access 99% of my brain.

*********************************************************************

MOVIE: Guardians of the Galaxy
DATE: August 24, 2014
RATING (OUT OF 5): *****

COMMENTS: This was so fun and funny. I was surprised that I would enjoy it so much.

*********************************************************************

MOVIE: If I Stay [SPOILER]
DATE: August 26, 2014
RATING (OUT OF 5): **

COMMENTS: I didn’t enjoy the shifting from past and present. I would have preferred just watching the past and seeing the romance and development of the two main characters. The past had so much potential to become a good movie.

*********************************************************************

MOVIE: Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (3D)
DATE: September 2, 2014
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****

COMMENTS: I really enjoyed it. The style was still there, and the stories were interesting. I especially liked the continuation of Nancy’s story.

*********************************************************************

MOVIE: Breathe (TIFF)
DATE: September 9, 2014
RATING (OUT OF 5): **

COMMENTS: I didn’t like this movie at all. It made me nauseous and sick. I felt head-aches. Halfway through the movie, all I wanted to do was go home, curl into a ball, and whimper. I felt so uncomfortable watching this movie. Also, too much shaky cam. The one good thing I could say about this movie is that the acting was well done.

*********************************************************************

MOVIE: Over Your Dead Body (TIFF) [SPOILER]
DATE: September 11, 2014
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****

COMMENTS: This was really nice. Surreal, spooky, dramatic. And creepy. That one scene with the forks – spine-tingling! Some of the scenery shots were really nicely done. Kudos to Takashi Miike.

*********************************************************************

MOVIE: Labyrinthus (TIFF)
DATE: September 13, 2014
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****

COMMENTS: This was pretty fun and interesting. I think I would enjoy playing a game like this, sorta. I also liked the humour. There was just enough of it.

*********************************************************************

MOVIE: Maze Runner [SPOILER]
DATE: September 30, 2014
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****

COMMENTS: This was very enjoyable. I liked the intensity and the humour. I kinda wished more was explained, but I guess it will be in the sequel.

*********************************************************************

MOVIE: Gone Girl [SPOILER]
DATE: October 21, 2014
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****

COMMENTS: This was an absolute mindf*ck, but in a good way. It made me think about many different things about relationships. I really hated Nick for cheating on Amy. When I think about it, he was the catalyst for many of Amy’s crimes. Setting up her death and framing Nick for it; killing Desi – Nick was the catalyst.

*********************************************************************

MOVIE: The Judge [SPOILER]
DATE: November 5, 2014
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****

COMMENTS: Robert Downey Jr. was so good here. The story was okay, but the interactions between Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall were very nice. I could really pick up Robert Downey Jr.’s want for approval / affection from his father.

*********************************************************************

MOVIE: Big Hero 6 (3D) [x2]
DATE: November 25, 2014
DATE: December 2, 2014
RATING (OUT OF 5): *****

COMMENTS: This was sooooooo gooooooood. I loved Baymax and the core of the story.
