BLOG -- Recap of May

Since living away from home, things are so much busier. The new responsibilities sometimes feel overwhelming, but the freedom feels nice.

Outings / Events in May:
- Spent about three weeks unpacking and organizing the place. There were many trips to Ikea.

- Watched a movie in theatres with my boyfriend, my sister, and her husband.

- When most of the stuff was put away, I finally hooked up a few gaming consoles. My PS5 is finally connected, but my Switch is still boxed away.

Exposures:
- Nothing this month.

Finished...
Watching:
- (Anime - Movie): Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can't Sing -- I enjoyed this a fair amount, but I think it's a movie more for fans of the game.

- Nothing this month.

The last time I had a Japanese pancake like this was before the pandemic. It still tastes nice and fluffy.

The first chicken-onion noodle soup thing that my boyfriend and I made. Aside from the occasional chicken bones, it tasted yummy.

I really enjoyed the audience vibes for this movie. There was cheering, clapping, and booing (the booing was for a certain character in a scene).

My desk at some point. It's much cleaner now.

This is cute and amusing.

I agree with this very much. There are way too many games that can't be accessed anymore these days.

BLOG -- Recap of April

There weren't too many events in April but it was very busy -- a bit too busy for my liking. Here's a spoiler: I don't live with my parents anymore. !!

Outings / Events in April:
- Hung out with my sister and a friend. It was a fun time.

- Attended multiple apartment viewings. My boyfriend and I applied to one apartment and the application got approved!

- I said good-bye to a sturdy plastic bag that I used frequently for over a decade. After carrying some heavy groceries, a hole finally poked through. I will miss thee! *salute* o7

- I voted. Did you (if you're in Canada)?

Exposures:
- Nothing this month.

Finished...
Watching:
- (Anime): Code Geass: Rebellion of Lelouch -- I had no idea that there were more episodes after the original series. There were a lot of twists. Overall it was pretty good.

Playing:
- (PS4): Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition -- This was really fun. It was brutal but my boyfriend and I got the gold medal for all the challenges.

Another sushi platter. I really love sushi :)

I recognize this character on the poster!

My One Piece "shrine" in my old room. I think it was nicely placed.

The Idol event in Blue Archive was really fun and funny.

I just had to get these characters in their Idol outfits.

I hope this character with this outfit becomes playable in the future.

BLOG -- Recap of March

March was busy -- I didn't go out much, but I watched a lot on Netflix and I also spent a lot of time looking at various... postings

Outings / Events in March:
- Celebrated a friend's birthday.

- Hung out with my sister, her husband, and my boyfriend.

- Had some kind of situation at home that I won't talk about here.

- Did my taxes. Did you do your taxes yet? ;)

- The Netflix subscription ended. I watched as much as I could.

Exposures:
- Nothing this month.

Finished...
Watching:
- (Movie): The Trial of the Chicago 7 -- I don't know how accurate the movie is, but the writing and acting are great.

- (Movie): Girl, Interrupted -- I was always curious about this movie when I was young. It was okay.

- (Movie): The Good Nurse -- To think this was based on actual events is chilling.

- (Movie): The Babadook -- I enjoyed it up until the last 20 minutes or so.

- (Movie): Roma -- It was well-made.

- (Movie): Fatal Attraction -- Meh.

- (Movie): Happy as Lazzaro -- It's a very bizarre movie but I like the commentary.

- (Movie): Pearl -- It was interesting.

- (Movie): Mank -- I enjoyed this a lot.

- (Movie): Marriage Story -- This was really good and educational.

- (Anime - Movie): Hunter x Hunter: The Last Mission -- It is appalling how horrible it was.

- (Anime - Movie): Flavors of Youth: International Version -- I have no idea why this has the "gore" tag on Netflix. There is no gore in it at all.

- (Anime): Fate/Apocrypha -- It took me a long time to finish this. It was nice to see some characters I recognized, but I wasn't connected to many of them.

- (Series): Black Mirror (Season 6) -- I'm all caught up until the next season comes out, haha.

- (Series): Castlevania -- I enjoyed this a lot. It was a pleasant surprise to find that Warren Ellis was involved in the writing.

- (Series): Castlevania: Nocturne -- The animation was really nice, but I liked the main characters more in the Castlevania series.

- (Series): Love Death + Robots -- Overall it was a fun, thought-provoking, and entertaining series.

Playing:
- (PS4): Helldivers -- We saw the credits so I'm counting it. Overall it was pretty fun, but also quite challenging and stressful.

This was a durian cake I ordered to celebrate something. I don't like durian cake much, haha.

Kisaki is the first character I really wanted (based on design) in Blue Archive and I got her in only 30 rolls.

This is how I also feel about taking a selfie.

My remaining Netflix watchlist after the subscription ended. I still has a lot of shows and movies to watch.

I'm sure I'll eventually re-subscribe to Netflix in the future...

but for now I'll take advantage of having more time...

and watching other things from other places or just doing other things.

"365 Days" will be in my watchlist until it leaves Netflix. XD

"Super Castlevania IV Boss 13 Death - No Damage&Subweapons" by Shadowserg.
After watching the Castlevania series I wanted to watch a video of the Death boss in Super Castlevania IV to show my boyfriend how difficult the fight was. Then I find this video, lol.

BLOG -- Recap of February

I was a shut-in during most of February. I don't like being out in the cold weather and it was quite cold and snowy in February.

March will be a Netflix-watching marathon as I try to watch as much as possible before the subscription runs out.

Outings / Events in February:
- Met up with some former co-workers for Winterlicious.

- Attended a concert for MADKID and Nano. It was pretty fun!

- Made some chocolates for Valentine's Day.

- I voted.

Exposures:
- Nothing this month.

Finished...
Watching:
- (Movie): The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) -- Good acting.

- (Movie): Knock at the Cabin -- I laughed a lot.

- (Movie): The Ballad of Buster Scruggs -- This was great.

- (Movie): A History of Violence -- It was pretty good.

- (Movie): Babel -- This was interesting.

- (Movie): Inferno -- It was okay.

- (Movie): Magic Mike XXL -- There was some substance, though I laughed a few times.

- (Movie): Magic Mike's Last Dance -- It was awkward at times, but the dancing was good.

- (Anime - Movie): Hunter x Hunter: Phantom Rouge -- It was okay. Based off the title I was hoping for a different story.

- (Series): Extracurricular -- This series was kinda crazy.

- (Series): Arcane: League of Legends -- The first season was good and the second season had good moments. I used to play as Caitlyn and Jinx often when I played League of Legends.

- (Series): Parasyte: The Grey -- I had to watch this because it was related to Parasyte. It was okay -- better than the old live-action movies.

Playing:
- (PS4): Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel -- It felt like a slog close to the end. I enjoyed playing as Claptrap.

- (PS4): Tunic -- This was a fantastic game. I had to look up solutions for a few of the puzzles. I cheesed the final boss.

That's it for February. Here are some pics I took this month plus a YouTube video.

Something yummy I had at a Sushi place close to Yonge and Bloor.

MADKID and Nano. I liked the blonde-haired guy's voice the most (Kazuki).

The chocolates I made for Valentine's Day. I made an icebox cake. I didn't realize until I was ingredient-shopping that the specific chocolate wafers ingredient had been discontinued for years. I used Oreo thins instead.

My late Christmas gift from my boyfriend! It will be a while before I play it, though. My PS5 is still not hooked up to my TV.

BLOG -- Recap of January

Not too much happened in January. I think I needed to wind down from all the outings in December.

My sister's husband informed me that he'll be letting the Netflix subscription expire eventually because it recently increased its prices. I considered subscribing to Netflix myself afterwards until I came across news that Netflix's basic plan has been discontinued since last year o_O! Now the cheapest no-ad plan is $18.99/month and Netflix is not worth that much to me. I refuse to pay $7.99/month for the plan with ads because it doesn't even come with all the movies and shows. Netflix doesn't make sense =_=

Outings / Events in January:
- Visited my boyfriend's relatives in St. Catherine's.

- Made a brief visit to Sudbury with my boyfriend for one weekend.

Exposures:
- Nothing this month.

Finished...
Watching:
- (Movie): Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again -- I enjoyed the singing.

- (Movie): The Fourth Kind -- I thought it was interesting until I found out it lied about being based on actual events.

- (Movie): The Call of the Wild -- It was okay.

- (Movie): Room -- Really good acting.

- (Movie): Tusk -- This was off-putting.

- (Movie): X -- It was okay.

- (Movie): Fullmetal Alchemist: Live-Action -- Not good.

- (Documentary): Studio 54: The Documentary -- It was interesting.

- (Series): Secret Level -- There were some good episodes and some bleh ones. My favourites were the New World, Pac-Man, Unreal Tournament, Exodus, and The Outer Worlds-themed episodes. The last episode was my least favourite.

Playing:
- (PS4): Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderland's One-shot Adventure -- This was fun, though it spoiled something in Borderlands 2 (which I still haven't finished).

- (PS4): Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition -- I played this with my boyfriend. It was frantic at times but overall fun.

- (PS4): Gauntlet: Slayer Edition -- I played this with my boyfriend. It was fun and short.

- (Novel): 86 by Asato Asato (Volume 2)

That's it for January. Here are a couple of pics and a bunch of screenshots I took this month plus a YouTube video.

I went to a Cajun / Creole restaurant and ordered a blackened chicken po'boy. It was good, though a bit spicy for me (my spice tolerance is very low).

I saw this in the supermarket and had to take a picture. If Squishmallows didn't become so popular I don't think this cereal would exist.

After months and months of saving the in-game currency, the Sanrio crossover banner in Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage finally came. I had about 855 rolls, which was enough for 2 pities if I needed them.

I did not need to use 2 pities...

But I did roll a lot.

I ended up doing 400 rolls.

I exchanged 100 roll points for some exchange vouchers and then exchanged the last 300 roll points to pity the last 4-star character (below).

Thankfully I got all the 2-star limited characters during all these rolls.

This pull came from another banner where I really liked the art style. I was lucky to get this on my first 10-roll.

Blue Archive also had a major banner event and I was ready with my 988 rolls. There were 3 characters I wanted and I was prepared to pity all 3 (doing 600 rolls) if I needed to.

Thankfully I didn't have to do 600 rolls. Mika and Shiroko*Terror came in my first 30 rolls.

I had to pity Hoshino (Armed), so I did 200 rolls.

Then I decided to do another 200 rolls to try getting copies. I was very lucky.

Each character had their own separate banner. If you pull that character in their own banner, you get 70 bonus character elephs, which happened for all the characters I wanted.

This meant that each character came when I pulled on their banner. With my 200 rolls, I pitied another copy of Mika to get her to 5-stars.

"Ending Daily Vlogs after 15 Years" by StephenVlog.
It is bittersweet that his daily vlogs has ended (though he will still be posting vlogs -- just sporadically), but at the same it's very understandable and I greatly support his decision. It never feels good to always feel behind because of a desire to do a daily thing, and that daily thing requires a certain amount of unknown time to accomplish. It is like committing to work that never ends which can be very draining, especially when there are other projects to do.
I didn't leave a comment on his video but if I did, I would have said:
"Thank you for your 15 years. It was a privilege to let us to take a peek into your life and those around you for so long. I am happy that we'll still have that privilege and I look forward to seeing whatever moments you continue to share with us!".
