So...
this blog is part 4 of the movies I've watched in theatres.
SPOILER ALERT WARNING!!
Since
I will be mentioning a good number of movies in this blog, some of them
will contain spoilers. Any movie that will contain a spoiler will be
marked.
2007
MOVIE: Pan’s Labyrinth [SPOILER]
COMMENTS: This one was better than Saw III and Saw IV. But it was still off its original mark.
DATE: February 8, 2007
RATING (OUT OF 5): ***
COMMENTS: I didn’t like it.
It was fantastical, but it was grim, and some parts of it were very
predictable. Pan’s Labyrinth was supposed to be similar to another
movie, but I don’t remember what it was compared to back then. I didn’t like
the ending – it was not definite and I think that the ending could be happy or
sad, depending on how your interpret Pan’s death. I don’t like endings like that.

RATING (OUT OF 5): ***
COMMENTS: This was… okay. A
few weeks after watching it, I overheard a conversation between two university
students talking about chick flicks. The guy mentioned 300 as a chick flick.
The girl asked how 300 could be considered a chick flick. Then the guy said:
“Think about it. 300 well-oiled muscular men in loincloths.” That was
hilarious.
I actually didn’t enjoy the movie very much. I thought there was too
much narration and not enough action. The story wasn’t that interesting either.

DATE: April 4, 2007
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****
COMMENTS: I really liked
this. I thought there was decent character development, story, and I liked the
whole brotherhood concept.

DATE: April 12, 2007
RATING (OUT OF 5): ***
COMMENTS: The pace was slow…
but it still freaked me out somewhat. The scene where the killer kept stabbing
the lady in grey was very traumatic for me. It scared me more that it was based
off a real killer.

DATE: May 5, 2007
RATING (OUT OF 5): ***
COMMENTS: Too busy. The plot
was too thick. I didn’t really like it. I also didn’t like Peter Parker getting
a new love interest -– darn teen movies and their love triangles.

DATE: May 24, 2007
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****
COMMENTS: This was really
good and really scary. I think it was scarier than the first movie.

DATE: June 16, 2007
RATING (OUT OF 5): ***
COMMENTS: It was meh. I’d
say it was on par with the first movie. Decent but not outstanding.

DATE: June 30, 2007
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****
COMMENTS: This was a really
good movie. Of course, I have nothing to compare it to. I didn’t watch any of
the earlier Die Hard movies. This was action-y and cool. I like the nerd
character.

DATE: July 7, 2007
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****
COMMENTS: I liked the
honesty of the main character. It looked like he wore his emotions on his
sleeve and I liked that. There was a lot going on in this movie. I liked the
soldier’s story bits, and the main character’s bond with Bumblebee. After
watching it again, years later, though, I realized that this movie wasn’t as great as I
remembered.

DATE: July 25, 2007
RATING (OUT OF 5): ***
COMMENTS: Ugh… too many
things cut from the movie. I mourned Sirius’ death and that’s it.
*********************************************************************
DATE: August 2, 2007
RATING (OUT OF 5): ***
COMMENTS: It was cute. I
don’t remember much, but that’s what I remember.
*********************************************************************
DATE: August 11, 2007
RATING (OUT OF 5): ***
COMMENTS: I don’t remember
much, except that there was one scene where Jackie Chan and Chris Rock had a
dispute and were missing each other. They ended up eating food from each
other’s culture – so Chris ate some Asian dish; Jackie ate some fried chicken.
That’s all I remember from the movie.

DATE: August 15, 2007
RATING (OUT OF 5): **
COMMENTS: Yuck!! I don’t
remember anything about this movie and I’d like to keep it that way.

DATE: September 25, 2007
RATING (OUT OF 5): **
COMMENTS: I don’t remember
anything about this movie except lots and lots of sand.

DATE: October 27, 2007
RATING (OUT OF 5): **
COMMENTS: Eww… yuck… the
victims are just getting worse and worse. I appreciated the backstory on
Jigsaw, though.

DATE: December 21, 2007
DATE: January 8, 2008
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****
COMMENTS: I honestly don’t
remember watching this movie two times, but I have two movie stubs for it, so I
must have watched it two times. It’s a really good movie. I love the singing.
Johnny Depp has an amazing singing voice, as well as Helena Bonham Carter. The
movie’s subject matter, though, is so depressing that I know I will never buy
the DVD. I don’t think I’ll ever want to see it again.
2008
DATE: March 4, 2008
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****
COMMENTS: This was a good
movie. The trailers advertised something completely different, but I still
enjoyed it for what it was.
*********************************************************************
DATE: March 19, 2008
RATING (OUT OF 5): ***
COMMENTS: This was slightly
cheesy. I only watched it because Jackie Chan and Jet Li were in it. I didn’t
really like the action scenes. I remember that the camera would shift every
time somebody got hit, and I wanted to see the actual physical impact. Some of
the humour was kind of weird.

DATE: May 10, 2008
RATING (OUT OF 5): *****
COMMENTS: I greatly enjoyed
this movie. Robert Downey Jr. is sooooooooo HOT in this movie. Oh my gosh…
*drool* Haha… the story was really good and the script was fast and smart. I
really, really liked it. I’d say it’s one of the best super hero movies ever
made. Gwyneth Paltrow was great as Pepper as well.

DATE: June 17, 2008
RATING (OUT OF 5): ***
COMMENTS: Ugh… this was one
of M. Night’s weaker movies. Eww… this was bad.
*********************************************************************
DATE: June 21, 2008
RATING (OUT OF 5): ***
COMMENTS: This was decent,
but I have no care for the Hulk. I liked Robert Downey Jr.’s cameo at the end.
*********************************************************************
DATE: July 5, 2008
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****
COMMENTS: I really enjoyed
this movie. I thought it would be pretty neat as a video game. I thought the
story was kinda neat. And I liked how Hancock won’t take crap from nobody, not
even that kid, hehe.
*********************************************************************
DATE: July 15, 2008
RATING (OUT OF 5): ***
COMMENTS: It was okay… but
not as good as the previous ones. I watched the older movies to prepare myself
for this one. This one was pretty meh…
*********************************************************************
DATE: July 24, 2008
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****
COMMENTS: This was really
good and detailed. Heath Ledger did an awesome job as the Joker, and the whole
story was pretty deep as well. Poor Aaron Eckhart playing Two-Face. The ideas
in this movie were really cool. And Joker was very menacing.
*********************************************************************
DATE: September 2, 2008
RATING (OUT OF 5): ***
COMMENTS: This movie pales
in comparison to the first and second movie. Brendan Fraser still did a great
job at his role. When he acts serious, I can really pick up on that
seriousness. He’s a total cutie.
*********************************************************************
DATE: August 5, 2008
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****
COMMENTS: I enjoyed the
singing and the overall visuals. Meryl Streep has a really good singing voice.
The plot was okay… just okay.
*********************************************************************
DATE: September 15, 2008
RATING (OUT OF 5): ****
COMMENTS: If I remember
correctly, I watched this in Japanese with subtitles before watching it in
theatres. The theatre version was dubbed which made it slightly cheesy. There
were certain parts where the audience (probably a lot of them Death Note fans)
laughed at the cheesiness of the dubbing. The movie itself was pretty good and
a little sad. I can’t believe that the guy who played the main guy in Battle
Royale is Light in Death Note. It’s such a change.
